RYELAND @ PACHA, IBIZA (27.07.13)
Following on from his hugely successful debut appearance at Pacha, Ibiza, Ryeland returned on July 27th for another instalment of Martin Solveig and Friends, this time featuring Dutch artist Laidback Luke.
Pacha is widely regarded as ‘the’ place to be on a saturday night, and when you throw three highly regarded international artists into the mix, it’s sure to go off with a bang.
Martin and Luke had finished their respective sets at Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium, and were on their way to the event as the lengthy queues outside the club began to pour in. Deep house was the soundtrack as the venue started to fill-up and there was a sophisticatedly mellow vibe about the place.
At 1am, Ryeland took to the stage and fans responded gratefully to the more energetic style of the British youngster, the atmosphere growing more and more with every track he dropped. They sang at the top of their voices as Ryeland played his version of Emeli Sande’s number one single ‘Heaven’, a track which gained the attention and support of industry pioneer Tiesto during his Electric Daisy Carnival appearances last year.
Smoke and lasers cut through the darkness as Ryeland’s collection of electro/progressive house sounds continued to increase the energy of the sold out venue, and when the clouds of nitrous oxide cleared, the place was awash with a mass of big smiles and fingers pointing skyward.
The night was nearing its peak when word was passed to the booth, indicating that the headline acts had been involved in a serious incident along their journey to the white isle, and would therefore be unable to perform.
In an unfortunate turn of events, the jet which was transporting Martin Solveig and Laidback Luke from Belgium to Ibiza had malfunctioned, and the captain was forced to make an emergency landing just outside of France.
It was now up to one individual to keep the party rocking until the early hours. Ryeland cranked up the heat and unleashed the magic which has earned him the respect and adulation of fans and peers alike. Tune after tune, the crowd went wild, bouncing off the energy and enthusiasm of the young entertainer as he steered the night towards its summit.Over three and a half hours later, and having played almost every track in his record bag, Ryeland unplugged himself from the mixer, mopped the perspiration from his brow one last time and bid farewell to the crowd. A sea of happy faces was clear evidence of a mutual love and respect between the performer and his audience, and a further indication of how well this artist is being received around the world.
Since returning home, Ryeland has been incredibly busy creating a new E.P which will be available soon.
